Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.
Kenneth Giebel, 68, of Lincoln, has been appointed director of homeownership at the California Housing Finance Agency, where he has served as acting director of single family lending since 2012 and was director of marketing from 2002 to 2012. He was director of promotions and ethnic advertising at the California State Lottery from 1994 to 2002 and was an account director at Key Concepts from 1992 to 1994. Giebel was director of account services at Dudell and Associates in 1991, at Tracy-Locke from 1988 to 1991 and at Allen and Dorward from 1984 to 1988. Giebel was the director of marketing branded products at S & W Fine Foods from 1982 to 1984, a group product manager at California Canners and Growers from 1974 to 1982 and a new product manager at Del Monte Foods from 1970 to 1974. Giebel earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Santa Clara University. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $124,008. Giebel is a Democrat.
Juan Vasquez, 44, of Sacramento, has been appointed deputy director for special projects at the California Department of General Services. Vasquez has been executive assistant to the president at the California Correctional Peace Officers Association since 2008. He was director of customer services at Paramount Farms from 2006 to 2007 and held several positions at Robinsons-May-Macy’s from 1997 to 2006, including manager of point of sale systems and information technology, senior analyst of the six sigma profit improvement department and expense control manager. Vasquez earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Woodbury University. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $90,000. Vasquez is registered without party preference.
