Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.
Mark Beckley, 44, of Gold River, has been appointed chief deputy director of the California Department of Child Support Services, where he has been acting chief deputy director since 2015 and served in several positions from 2007 to 2012, including deputy director of administration, acting deputy director of administration and chief financial officer. He served as deputy director of administration at the California Department of State Hospitals from 2012 to 2015 and served in several positions at the California Department of Finance from 2001 to 2006, including staff finance budget analyst, associate finance budget analyst and assistant finance budget analyst. Beckley held several positions at Charles Schwab and Co. from 1997 to 2001, including project manager, team manager, team leader and senior specialist. He earned a Master of Public Policy degree from the University of Southern California Sol Price School of Public Policy. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $132,984. Beckley is a Democrat.
Nancy O’Malley, 61, of Alameda, has been appointed to the California Domestic Violence Advisory Council. O’Malley has served as the Alameda County District Attorney since 2009. She served as chief assistant district attorney at the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office from 1999 to 2009, where she was a deputy district attorney from 1984 to 1999. O’Malley was an attorney at Linda DeBene Inc. from 1982 to 1984. O’Malley is chair of the California Sex Offender Management Board and founder of the Alameda County Family Justice Center. She is a member of the Asian American Prosecutors Association, American Law Institute, State Advisory Commission on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, Bay Area Black Prosecutors Association, California Women Lawyers Foundation, National Family Justice Center Alliance Board, Alameda Boys and Girls Club, Women Lawyers of Alameda County, California Judicial Council Criminal Law Advisory Committee, California Sexual Assault Advisory Committee and the California District Attorneys Association. O’Malley earned a Juris Doctor degree from the Golden Gate University School of Law. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. O’Malley is a Democrat.
