Sacramento, California - Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia participated in today’s Joint Hearing of the Assembly Governmental Organization and Senate Governmental Organization where they discussed California's Earthquake Preparedness: The Status of the Earthquake Early Warning System.
“Imperial County and Coachella Valley through their Association of Governments have some pilot programs and detection systems in place in regards to Earthquake Early Warning Systems—and I know personally and have seen firsthand the benefit in terms of the early minute warning of the system where we have been able to buy some time through this detection system and have seen doors to fire stations and other first responders open up due to the Earthquake Early Warning System,” said Garcia.
The primary jurisdiction of the of the Assembly Governmental Organization Committee include alcohol, Indian gaming, horseracing, gambling, tobacco, public records, open meetings laws, state holidays, outdoor advertising and emergency services/natural disasters (this can be shared with the Housing and Community Development Committee and Local Government Committee).
