Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments:
Dorene D’Adamo, 57, of Turlock, has been reappointed to the State Water Resources Control Board, where she has served since 2013. D’Adamo served as senior policy advisor to Congressman Jim Costa in 2013 and to Congressman Dennis Cardoza from 2003 to 2012. She was legal counsel for Congressman Gary Condit from 1994 to 2003 and a visiting instructor at California State University, Stanislaus from 1992 to 1998. D’Adamo was an associate attorney at the Law Offices of Perry and Wildman from 1992 to 1994 and a policy consultant at DeeDee D’Adamo Consulting from 1991 to 1992. She was legislative director for Congressman Gary Condit from 1990 to 1991 and assistant director at the California Youth Authority from 1988 to 1990. D’Adamo was legal counsel at the California State Assembly Committee on Public Safety from 1986 to 1988 and legislative director for the California State Assembly Assistant Majority Leader from 1985 to 1986. She is a member of the California Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley and served on the California Air Resources Board from 1999 to 2013. D’Adamo earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $147,778. D’Adamo is a Democrat.
Jerry C. Fleming, 66, of Walnut Creek, has been appointed to Covered California, California’s Health Benefit Exchange. Fleming held several positions at Kaiser Foundation Health Plan from 1977 to 2015, including national senior vice president of health care reform implementation and policy and health plan manager and program development, and vice president of administration and health plan manager for the Northern California region and director of planning and program development and medical economics for the Northern California region. He was an economist at the Montana Department of Community Affairs from 1975 to 1977. Fleming earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Fleming is a Democrat.
Sandra R. Hernandez, 60, of San Francisco, has been appointed to Covered California, California’s Health Benefit Exchange. Hernandez has been president and chief executive officer at the California Health Care Foundation since 2014 and has been an assistant clinical professor at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine since 1992. She was chief executive officer at the San Francisco Foundation from 1997 to 2013. Hernandez was director of public health at the San Francisco Department of Public Health from 1994 to 1997, where she served in several positions from 1988 to 1994, including county health officer, deputy director for community public health services and for the AIDS Office, acting medical director for community public health services, director for the AIDS Office and branch chief for health resources and services and for the AIDS Office. Hernandez was a community outreach coordinator of the San Francisco General Hospital AIDS Activities Division from 1987 to 1988. She is a member of the California Medical Association and the San Francisco Medical Association. Hernandez earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from the Tufts University School of Medicine. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Hernandez is a Democrat.
John Pence, 59, of Antioch, has been appointed to the 23rd District Agricultural Association, Contra Costa County Fair Board of Directors. Pence has been a network engineer for Wells Fargo since 1994. He is a member of the Benicia Amateur Radio Club. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Pence is a Republican.
Robert Sherwood, 61, of Oakley, has been appointed to the 23rd District Agricultural Association, Contra Costa County Fair Board of Directors. Sherwood has been president at Sherwood Electric Inc. since 1988. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Sherwood is a Republican.
