Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments:
John Dunn, 49, of Sacramento, has been appointed assistant secretary for apprenticeship and worker training at the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency, where he has served as a special consultant since 2017. Dunn was project director at American River College from 2015 to 2017, an education specialist at the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office from 2013 to 2015 and an education consultant at the California Department of Education from 2008 to 2013. He was a teacher for the Elk Grove Unified School District from 2004 to 2008 and for the Galt Joint Union High School District from 1997 to 2004. Dunn earned a Master of Arts degree in education from California State University, Sacramento. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $99,840. Dunn is a Democrat.
Gloria S. Bell, 62, of Salinas, has been reappointed to the California Employment Training Panel, where she has served since 2013. Bell has been director for human resources at SunRidge Farms since 2015. She was vice president of human resources at Farm Fresh To You-Capay Organic from 2013 to 2015. Bell held several positions at Driscoll Strawberry Associates from 2002 to 2013, including senior human resource business partner of the Americas, senior employee relations manager, corporate compensation, benefit and employee relations manager and manager of human resources for Central Mexico. She was human resource manager at Temple-Inland Paperboard and Packaging Inc. from 1999 to 2002, at Transfresh Corporation from 1995 to 1999 and at Fresh Express from 1992 to 1995. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Bell is a Democrat.
Donald Marshall, 63, of Fremont, has been reappointed to the California Fraud Assessment Commission, where he has served since 2009. Marshall has been vice president at the Zenith Insurance Company since 2003, where he was manager of investigations from 1993 to 1996. He was director of special investigations at Gates McDonald from 1999 to 2003, vice president at CalFarm Insurance from 1996 to 1999 and special investigations coordinator at the California Casualty Insurance Company from 1991 to 1993. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Marshall is a Democrat.
