Coronado, California - On Wednesday, the San Diego Sector Border Patrol welcomed its newest Chief Patrol Agent Rodney S. Scott. A Change of Command ceremony was held at the Coronado Community Center in Coronado, CA. U.S. Border Patrol Acting Chief Carla Provost presided over the ceremony, which formally established Rodney S. Scott as the Chief Patrol Agent (CPA) for the San Diego Sector.

“I am honored and elated to assume command of the San Diego Sector. My goal is to provide enthusiastic leadership that empowers the men and woman of the sector to excel,” said CPA Scott. “I also look forward to building community partnerships and collaborating with area stakeholders for stronger border security and community safety.”

CPA Scott manages more than 2,400 law enforcement agents and support staff and has direct oversight of the area’s eight Border Patrol stations. San Diego Sector’s area of responsibility includes 60 linear miles of international boundary with Mexico and the entire California coastal region.

Prior to his new appointment, CPA Scott served as the CPA of the El Centro Sector, as the Deputy Chief Patrol Agent at SDC, and as the Patrol Agent in Charge at the Brown Field Station in SDC. CPA Scott also has held a variety of leadership positions, including Assistant Chief within CBP’s Office of Anti-Terrorism in Washington, D.C., and as the Director/Division Chief for the Incident Management and Operations Coordination Division at CBP Headquarters.

CPA Scott entered on duty with the U.S. Border Patrol on May 11, 1992, as a member of U.S. Border Patrol Academy class 252. His first assignment was at the Imperial Beach Station in San Diego.

Rodney S. Scott was born in Indiana and was raised in Nogales, AZ, before discovering his calling as a U.S. Border Patrol Agent. He is married and has two daughters.
