Sacramento, California - The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is seeking information that may lead to the apprehension of an armed and dangerous bank robber who has robbed three banks in Northern California. Dubbed the “Bad Breath Bandit” for his use of a disposable paper face mask during the commission of each of the robberies, the suspect is a white male who stands approximately 6’0” tall, weighs approximately 210-250 pounds with a medium build, and has dark hair.
On November 13, 2014, at approximately 10:24 a.m., the suspect entered the Tri Counties Bank located at 9411 Midway in Durham, California. He approached a teller and displayed a black handgun while he made his demand for cash. After receiving an undisclosed amount of money and placing the cash in a blue backpack, the suspect walked out the bank, headed east across Midway, and proceeded into a nearby orchard. During the robbery, the suspect wore a black, zip-front jacket with a hood that had a Nike logo on the left breast; blue jeans; black shoes; and a black San Francisco Giants baseball hat. He also attempted to conceal his identity by wearing a dust mask or medical mask and dark wrap-around sunglasses.
On September 25, 2014, at approximately 10:35 a.m., the suspect entered the Umpqua Bank located at 7843 Highway 99 East in Los Molinos, California. The subject approached a teller’s desk and aimed a handgun at the teller. The suspect then walked behind the teller’s desk and made demands while holding the gun within a pocket of the backpack. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect departed the bank on foot. During this robbery, the suspect also wore a black, zip-front jacket with a hood that had a Nike logo on the left breast; blue jeans; black shoes; and a black San Francisco Giants baseball hat. He also attempted to conceal his identity by wearing a dust mask or medical mask and dark wrap-around sunglasses.
On Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at approximately 12:52 p.m., the suspect entered the Tri Counties Bank located at 305 Railroad Avenue in Nevada City, California. The suspect approached a teller at the employee’s window, presented a black backpack and demanded cash. After receiving an undisclosed amount of money from the first teller, the suspect approached two other tellers and received funds from each of them. He then exited the bank. On the same day, the suspect entered the Bank of the West located at 460 Brunswick Road in Grass Valley, California at approximately 11 a.m. After a brief interaction with a bank employee, the suspect departed the bank on foot without incident. During the both the robbery and sighting, the suspect wore a blue, button-front shirt with the sleeves pushed up; blue jeans; black shoes; and a black San Francisco Giants baseball hat. He also attempted to conceal his identity by wearing a dust mask or medical mask with yellow straps and dark sunglasses.
