Escondido, California - Butterfly Jungle at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park features thousands of beautiful butterflies as they flit, float and flutter in an aviary that also includes birds, lush greenery and flowers.
Guests to Butterfly Jungle can walk among the exotic butterflies of all colors, shapes and sizes, take photos, and learn about the flying creatures. The more than 30 species of butterflies highlighted hail from Africa, Asia, Central, South and North America and include the zebra longwing, orange-barred tiger, Grecian shoemaker, monarch, giant swallowtail and blue morpho. In addition to butterflies, there are 15 exotic bird species that share the aviary.
Butterfly Jungle offers something for everyone, from fun kids’ activities to special presentations to fascinating facts about these wonderful winged insects. Guests are encouraged to wear bright colors and move slowly to attract the butterflies. They may land on a shoulder, head or anywhere they want!
During Butterfly Jungle, the Safari Park offers extended hours, opening early at 8 a.m. and closing at 6 p.m. Because of the popularity of Butterfly Jungle, timed tickets with a reserved viewing time are offered to guests during peak times from 10 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.; open viewing is from 8 to 10 a.m. and 3 to 5:45 p.m.
