Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.
Jodi Remke, 49, of Oakland, has been reappointed chairperson of the California Fair Political Practices Commission, where she has served since 2014. Remke was presiding judge at the State Bar Court of California from 2006 to 2014, where she was hearing judge from 2000 to 2006. She was an attorney with the California State Senate Judiciary Committee from 1997 to 2000, at the Montana Legal Services Association from 1994 to 1996 and at Miller, Starr and Regalia from 1991 to 1994. Remke is president of the National Council of Lawyer Disciplinary Boards. She earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $138,867. Remke is a Democrat.
Larry Booth, 61, of Sacramento, has been reappointed to the California Building Standards Commission, where he has served since 2014. Booth has been president at Frank M. Booth Inc. since 2000, where he has held several positions since 1976, including manager, project engineer and estimator. He is a member of the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. This position requires Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Booth is a Democrat.
Ravneet Kaur, 20, of Riverside, has been appointed to the California Community Colleges Board of Governors. Kaur was a barista at Starbucks and a tutor at Riverside City College in 2014. She was a volunteer at Hemet Valley Medical Center from 2012 to 2013 and at Sukh Sansar Hospital in Punjab, India in 2011. Kaur is a Region IX Governance and Internal Policy senator for the Student Senate for California Community Colleges and a member of the Riverside Community College District Honors Program and Associated Students of Riverside City College. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Kaur is a Democrat.
Paul Rosenstiel, 64, of San Francisco, has been reappointed to the California State Teachers’ Retirement Board, where he has served since 2011. Rosenstiel has been managing director at Stifel since 2014. He was principal at De La Rosa and Company from 2009 to 2014 and from 1995 to 2005. Rosenstiel served as deputy state treasurer at the California State Treasurer’s Office from 2007 to 2009 and was policy director for Steve Westly for Governor from 2005 to 2006, vice president of public finance at First Boston Corporation from 1986 to 1995 and an associate at Dean, Witter and Reynolds from 1983 to 1986. Rosenstiel is chair of the California Budget Project Board of Directors and a member of the Public Policy Institute of California Statewide Leadership Council. He earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Rosenstiel is a Democrat.
