Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.
Jed Grant, 43, of Tulare, has been reappointed to the California Physician Assistant Board, where he has served since 2013. Grant has been a physician assistant director at the San Joaquin Valley College since 2013, where he has been a physician assistant instructor since 2003. He has been a physician's assistant at CEP America since 2011, where he was lead physician assistant from 2000 to 2007, and has served as a reserve police officer at the Visalia Police Department since 2009. Grant was a lead physician assistant at Sierra View District Hospital from 2007 to 2011. He has served on active reserve in the California Army National Guard since 2014, where he served from 1999 to 2006, and served in the California Air National Guard from 1994 to 1999. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Grant is a Republican.
Xavier Martinez, 69, of San Marcos, has been reappointed to the California Physician Assistant Board, where he has served since 2014. Martinez has been owner of Martinez and Associates Inc. since 1995. He was a temporary tax preparer at Jassoy Graff and Douglas from 1993 to 1994 and temporary staff member at Security Pacific Financial from 1992 to 1994. Martinez was tax manager at McDonnell Douglas Computer Systems from 1989 to 1991 and at USA Petroleum from 1987 to 1988. He was director of taxes at the Wickes Corporation from 1973 to 1987. Martinez earned a Master of Science degree in taxation from Golden Gate University. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Martinez is a Democrat.
Marcia Raggio, 66, of Pacifica, has been reappointed to the California Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers Board, where she has served since 2012. Raggio has been a professor at San Francisco State University and owner at Hearing Science of Daly City since 1997 and a research audiologist at the University of California, San Francisco since 1992. She was a lecturer at San Francisco State University from 1995 to 1997, at San Jose State University from 1992 to 1995 and at California State University, Long Beach from 1985 to 1986. Raggio earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in speech and hearing science from the University of California, San Francisco and a Master of Science degree in communicative disorders from San Francisco State University. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Raggio is a Democrat.
