Sacramento, California - John A. Crosby, 56, of Redding; Ines S. Crosby, 76, of Orland; and Leslie A. Lohse, 64, of Glenn, pleaded guilty Thursday to conspiracy to embezzle or steal from a tribal organization, as well as tax fraud and tax evasion offenses, Acting U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Los Angeles, California - The Department of Justice announced Tuesday that it has reached a settlement agreement with four car reconditioning companies in California: Automotive Creations, Inc., Dynamic Auto Images, Inc., Prestige Auto Specialists, Inc., and Expert Automotive Reconditioning, Inc. (collectively, the Companies). The settlement resolves the Department’s investigation into whether the Companies violated the anti-discrimination provision of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) by discriminating against lawful permanent residents when verifying their authorization to work in the United States.

San Francisco, California - In the Sunset District in San Francisco, Governor Gavin Newsom met with Californians struggling to secure housing near their work. At the event, Governor Newsom highlighted the historic investment this year’s California budget made in housing and discussed executive actions he has taken to confront California’s housing shortage and housing affordability crisis. He also highlighted more housing actions the state could take before year’s end – enacting strong renter and anti-gouging protection, streamlining zoning and permitting, and creating a permanent fund for legal housing aid.
