Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments:
Adriana Martinez, 47, of Alhambra, has been appointed deputy director of outreach for the Complete Count Census. Martinez was director of external affairs at AT&T California from 2011 to 2018, where she was director of public affairs from 2011 to 2014. She was president at Adriana Martinez Group LLC from 2007 to 2011, assistant deputy mayor of economic development in the Los Angeles Mayor’s Office of Economic Development from 2005 to 2007, director of economic development and field operation for Los Angeles City Council member Antonio Villaraigosa from 2004 to 2005 and policy director and Los Angeles business team area manager in the Los Angeles Mayor’s Office from 2002 to 2003. Martinez is a member of the Stanford Latino Alumni Association, Friends of the American Latino Museum, Hispanic Scholarship Fund, Dream Academy of Salinas and the STEM Academy of Boyle Heights. She earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Management. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $140,004. Martinez is a Democrat.
Sara Murillo, 58, of Sacramento, has been appointed assistant director of administration for the Complete Count Census. Murillo has served as a fiscal officer at the California Department of Toxic Substances Control since 2015. She was chief of administration for the Forensic Services Division at the California Department of State Hospitals from 2013 to 2015, chief of accounting and fiscal systems at the California Department of Mental Health from 2007 to 2013 and manager of the Fiscal Services Division at the Victim Compensation and Government Claims Board from 2003 to 2007. Murillo earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $112,980. Murillo is a Democrat.
Glenn Kawaguchi, 52, of Newbury Park, has been reappointed to the State Board of Optometry, where he has served since 2012. Kawaguchi has been owner at Buenaventura Optometry since 2016. He was managing optometrist at Eyexam of California from 2011 to 2016 and eye care director for Sears Optical from 2006 to 2011. He was a regional optometric practices manager at Eyexam of California from 2000 to 2006, where he was managing optometrist from 1993 to 2000. Kawaguchi was an associate optometrist for David Sherman, O.D. from 1992 to 1993. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and the California Optometric Association. Kawaguchi earned a Doctor of Optometry degree from the Marshall B. Ketchum University, Southern California College of Optometry. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Kawaguchi is registered without party preference.
Mark Morodomi, 57, of Oakland, has been reappointed to the State Board of Optometry, where he has served since 2015. Morodomi has served as senior counsel at the University of California Office of General Counsel since 2013. He served as supervising deputy city attorney at the Oakland City Attorney’s Office from 2001 to 2013 and as a policy advisor to the Undersecretary of the Treasury, Law Enforcement at the U.S. Department of the Treasury in 2000. Morodomi served as senior counsel and acting chief of enforcement at the California Fair Political Practices Commission from 1990 to 2000 and was an attorney at Teraoka and Associates from 1989 to 1990. Morodomi is a member of the Asian American Bar Association of the Greater Bay Area, Alameda County Bar Association and the Japanese American Citizens League. He earned a Juris Doctor degree from the New York University School of Law. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Morodomi is a Democrat.
Lillian Wang, 48, of Moraga, has been reappointed to the State Board of Optometry, where she has served since 2015. Wang has been an optometrist at Lafayette Optometric since 2004 and an assistant clinical professor at the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry since 2000. She was an assistant clinical professor at the State University of New York, College of Optometry from 1998 to 2000. Wang is a member of the American Academy of Optometry and the New England College of Optometry Alumni Association. She earned a Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Wang is a Republican.
Hugo Rodriguez, 56, of Indio, has been reappointed to the California Private Security Disciplinary Review Committee, South, where he has served since 2013. Rodriguez has been director of security at the Augustine Band of Cahuilla Indians Casino since 2018. He was lieutenant at the San Manuel Indian Nation, Department of Public Safety from 2017 to 2018, branch manager at Securitas Security Services USA Inc. from 2012 to 2013 and police commander at the City of Brawley Police Department from 2004 to 2012. Rodriguez is a member of the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy Associates, California Police Chiefs Association, International Association of Chiefs of Police, Indio Sunrise Rotary Club and the National Latino Peace Officers Association, Coachella Valley Chapter. He earned a Master of Public Administration degree from Bellevue University. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Rodriguez is a Republican.
