Rochester, Minnesota - John Noseworthy, M.D., president and CEO, Mayo Clinic, has announced he will serve another year at the request of the Mayo Clinic Board of Trustees. Dr. Noseworthy plans to retire from Mayo Clinic at the end of 2018. This decision comes after one of Mayo Clinic’s strongest years in terms of quality and safety; advancement in research, education and the clinical practice; and the completion of a $3.76 billion, eight-year philanthropic campaign.

"People can get two different influenza infections in the same season," says Dr. Pritish Tosh, an infectious diseases specialist at Mayo Clinic.

Washington, DC - A new Federal Trade Commission report finds that the complexity of the mobile ecosystem means that the security update process for patching operating system software on some mobile devices is intricate and time-consuming. While noting that industry participants have taken steps to streamline the process, the report recommends that manufacturers consider taking additional steps to get more security updates to user devices faster. It also recommends that manufacturers consider telling users how long a device will receive security updates and when update support is ending.
