Washington, DC - Americans spent $30.2 billion - $28.3 billion for adults and $1.9 billion for children - out-of-pocket on complementary health approaches, according to a nationwide survey. These approaches include a group of diverse medical and health care systems, practices, and products such as herbal supplements, meditation, chiropractic, and yoga. This amount represents 9.2 percent of all out-of-pocket spending by Americans on health care and 1.1 percent of total health care spending.

Washington, DC - Ghiringhelli Specialty Foods, Inc., a Vallejo, California, establishment, is recalling approximately 2,444 pounds of poultry products due to mislabeling and undeclared allergens, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The products contain soy, wheat, and fish (anchovies), known allergens which are not declared on the product label. Additionally, the Caesar Salad products usually have the statement “May Contain Traces of Shellfish.” This statement is missing on the recalled products.

In the summer of 2015, Mayo Clinic doctors were the first in the U.S. to implant a new weight-loss device - an intragastric balloon - for those who need medical help, but don’t qualify for bariatric surgery. As the first results are being assessed, Mayo experts say the balloon has the potential to benefit millions of people.
