Sacramento, California - California Attorney General Xavier Becerra today, as part of a nationwide coalition of 51 attorneys general, announced an agreement with 12 telecommunications (telecom) providers on a set of principles intended to limit and prevent robocalls. The providers have agreed to incorporate these principles into their business practices. This agreement comes from the work of the coalition of attorneys general who in 2018 formed the Robocall Technologies Working Group. The group collaborated with telecom providers to make it more difficult for scammers to use robocall technologies to intrude upon and defraud consumers.

Sacramento, California - California Attorney General Xavier Becerra Wednesday announced the arrest and arraignment of Dr. Thomas Keller for the deaths of five patients. The patients’ deaths allegedly resulted from Dr. Keller’s practice of over-prescribing dangerously high levels of addictive opioids and narcotics to his patients. Dr. Keller allegedly prescribed powerful narcotics and opioids used to alleviate pain including Vicodin, oxycodone, OxyContin, Percocet, and morphine at levels well outside accepted medical practice.

Los Angeles, California - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers assigned to Cargo Operations at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in coordination with the Import Specialist assigned to the impacted Centers, seized 5,300 counterfeit products. If genuine, the seized merchandise would have had an estimated manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $3,475,000.
