Imperial Valley, California - This holiday season, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife suggests giving the gift of restoration by pre-ordering a Salton Sea specialty license plate. Funds raised from the sale of the plates help to restore the Salton Sea’s air quality, wildlife habitat and precious water. If 7,500 people have sent in their reservation form and paid the corresponding fee, the plates will go into production.
Norovirus is on the Rise in California

Sacramento, California - California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Director and State Public Health Officer Dr. Karen Smith today announced that California is experiencing an increase in norovirus cases, commonly referred to as stomach flu or winter vomiting disease. CDPH has confirmed 32 outbreaks of norovirus in California since October 1, 2015 – likely resulting in hundreds of reported sicknesses in the state. These outbreaks far exceed the number reported at this time in 2014.
