Washington, DC - Cases of a serious birth defect of the abdominal wall called gastroschisis continues to increase over time, according to a report in CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report. CDC researchers found that over 18 years, the prevalence of gastroschisis more than doubled in the United States. More research is needed to understand what is causing the increase.

Washington, DC - Home Maid Ravioli Company, Inc., a San Francisco, California establishment, is recalling approximately 34,200 pounds of beef ravioli products due to misbranding and undeclared allergens, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The products contain whey, a known allergen, and pork, neither of which are declared on the product labels. The products were also produced without the benefit of federal inspection.
