Imperial, California - Imperial County Sheriff's Office Boating Enforcement Safety Team (BEST) Deputies will be on the Colorado River conducting saturated patrol on the river this 4th of July weekend. It is important to make a few preparations to ensure everyone has a safe weekend and returns home. Designate a sober operator; the extremely hot temperatures mixed with alcohol consumption can intensify the effects from drinking. Always have enough life jackets readily accessible for everyone aboard your vessel.
Also have the following safety equipment, a type IV throw able floatation device, a serviceable U.S. Coast Guard approved fire extinguisher and sound signaling device must be immediately accessible on the vessel. If found in violation of some of these laws the punishments could include, arrest, citations, towing of vessel, and termination of voyage on the river.
