Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.
Aileen Federizo, 46, of Encino, has been reappointed to the California Professional Fiduciaries Advisory Committee, where she has served since 2012. Federizo has been founder and a professional fiduciary at ElderWell since 2011. She has been a case manager at Greg Oveross and Associates since 2010 and chief operating officer at MyBarong since 1999. Federizo was human relations manager at the Law Offices of Caren R. Nielsen from 2009 to 2011. She was an outreach coordinator at the Alzheimer’s Association of Los Angeles from 1994 to 1997, ombudsman at WISE Senior Services from 1992 to 1994 and activities coordinator at OPICA Adult Day Center from 1989 to 1992. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Federizo is a Democrat.
Barbara de Vries, 74, of San Francisco, has been reappointed to the California Professional Fiduciaries Advisory Committee, where she has served since 2012. She has been owner at Life Management Associates since 1991. De Vries served as coordinator of geriatric mental health services at the Alameda County Mental Health Services from 1984 to 1989, where she was a social worker from 1974 to 1984. She earned a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Michigan and a Master of Public Administration degree from Harvard University. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. De Vries is a Democrat.
Kathleen Thomson, 56, of Vacaville, has been reappointed to the California Professional Fiduciaries Advisory Committee, where she has served since 2012. Thomson has been supervising court investigator at the Solano County Superior Court since 2006. She served as deputy public guardian at the Yolo County Public Guardian’s Office from 2002 to 2006 and was the owner operator of Global Asset Protection from 1997 to 2002. Thomson served as senior investigator at the San Francisco District Attorney's Office from 1982 to 1997 and as a complaint mediator at the California Department of Consumer Affairs from 1981 to 1982. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Thomson is a Republican.
Eric Kawamura, 60, of Orinda, has been reappointed to the California Housing Partnership Corporation, where he has served since 2006. Kawamura has been vice president and associate general counsel at Citibank since 2006, where he was vice president and general counsel from 2002 to 2006. He held several positions at the California Federal Bank from 1986 to 2002, including senior vice president and senior counsel. Kawamura earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. This position requires Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Kawamura is a Democrat.
Philip Ritter, 70, of Los Gatos, has been appointed to the California Housing Partnership Corporation. Ritter has been an independent certified public accountant and consultant since 2000. He served in several positions at Burbank Housing from 1994 to 2000, including project manager, asset manager and property management director. Ritter was development finance manager at the Mid-Peninsula Housing Coalition from 1990 to 1994, a task force staff consultant for Northern California Grantmakers from 1987 to 1990 and staff consultant at the San Francisco Foundation from 1982 to 1986. He was acting chief financial officer at the Center for Independent Living in 1982, supervisor at Lee, Allen and Farley CPAs from 1979 to 1981 and a staff accountant at Metzon and van Dam CPAs from 1978 to 1979. Ritter was a mechanic and machinist at Griswold Company from 1977 to 1978, director and automotive training manager at Synanon Foundation Inc. from 1971 to 1976, chief financial officer at Computer Election Systems Inc. from 1969 to 1971 and a staff accountant-auditor at Touche, Ross and Company from 1968 to 1969. This position requires Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Ritter is a Democrat.
