Imperial, California - The Imperial County Board of Supervisors wish to inform the public of a statewide property tax postponement program to assist eligible seniors, or blind, or disabled persons. The California State Controller’s Property Tax Postponement Program allows homeowners who are seniors, blind or have a disability to defer current-year property taxes on their principal residence if they meet certain criteria, including income limits and other requirements.

Sacramento, California - Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia is pleased to report that the California Wildlife Conservation Board appropriated $14.5 million at yesterday’s hearing dedicated to the Salton Sea.

Imperial, California - Thursday, the County of Imperial was notified by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) that they have decided to grant the petition for a waiver from the 10-enplanement requirement and Subsidy Cap for the Imperial County Airport.  The Imperial County Airport will retain its eligibility as an Essential Air Service (EAS) community.

Sacramento, California - The County of Imperial received an award notification from the California Department of Housing and Community Development that they have been awarded $3.4 million to address community needs through several projects that were included in the grant application.  The grant, originating from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, will go towards ten projects that will improve public safety, facilities, services and water treatment in several communities of Imperial County.

El Centro, California - Last week, the Imperial County Auditor-Controller Department received the Award for Counties Financial Transactions Reporting by the California State Controller’s Office for its year-end Financial Transaction Report for the fiscal year that ended on June 30, 2015.  This award was given to the Auditor-Contoller Department in recognition of the professionalism demonstrated by preparing accurate and timely financial reports.

El Centro, California - Representatives from the Imperial Irrigation District, Coachella Energy Storage Partners, electric industry leaders and local and state officials gathered near the IID energy generating station today, cutting the ribbon to mark the effective start of the district’s new battery energy storage system.
