Washington, DC - The American Farm Bureau Federation’s 29th annual informal price survey of classic items found on the Thanksgiving Day dinner table indicates the average cost of this year’s feast for 10 is $49.41, a 37-cent increase from last year’s average of $49.04.

Washington, DC - The defendants in a federal court action brought by the FTC have agreed to stop operating an advance fee recovery scheme for the duration of the on-going litigation. The FTC seeks to permanently stop the operation, which in the past year took close to $1.3 million from consumers, many of them elderly people who had lost money to timeshare resale and precious metal investment frauds.

Trinity River, California - The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) announces that the Trinity River Hatchery has met its adult fall-run Chinook salmon take of 4,800 fish. Beginning Monday, November 17 the Trinity River downstream of the Old Lewiston bridge to the mouth of Indian Creek is open to the take of chinook salmon over 22 inches.
