Sacramento, California - After a three-day trial, a federal jury found Brent Douglas Cole, age 61, resident of Nevada County, guilty of assault on a federal officer with a deadly weapon which inflicted bodily injury; assault on a person assisting a federal officer with a deadly weapon which inflicted bodily injury; and discharge of a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced. The trial was held before United States District Judge Garland E. Burrell, Jr.

Washington, DC - A campaign finance manager and political consultant pleaded guilty today in the Eastern District of Virginia for coordinating $325,000 in federal election campaign contributions by a political action committee (PAC) to a Congressional campaign committee. This is the first criminal prosecution in the United States based upon the coordination of campaign contributions between political committees.

Atlanta, Georgia - A former bank president was charged today for his role in a bank fraud scheme in which he is alleged to have hidden underperforming and at-risk loans from the bank and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), among others, announced Assistant Attorney General Leslie R. Caldwell of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division and U.S. Attorney Michael J. Moore of the Middle District of Georgia.
