Treasury Designates Members of Drug Trafficking Family Associated with Sinaloa Cartel Leadership

Washington, DC - The U.S. Department of the Treasury today announced the designation of three Mexican nationals pursuant to the Foreign Narcotics Kingpin Designation Act (Kingpin Act). Felipe, Alejandro, and Jose Luis Cabrera Sarabia are major heroin and marijuana suppliers for the Sinaloa Cartel based in the state of Durango, Mexico. As a result of today’s action, these individuals’ assets within U.S. jurisdiction are frozen, and U.S. persons are generally prohibited from engaging in transactions with them.

It was a perfect day for such a celebration (although to be perfectly honest, the farmers would have preferred rain). London, England - Today, the United States assumed the Chairmanship of the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPs) Initiative at the closing of this year’s Annual Plenary Meeting in London. In the VPs Initiative, governments, companies and non-governmental organizations work together to guide oil, gas, and mining companies in minimizing the risk of human rights abuses involving security providers when companies extract resources in some of the toughest parts of the world.
