San Diego Zoo Welcomes Four Capybaras

San Diego, California - Veterinarians gave their first exam this morning to four capybaras, members of the world’s largest rodent species, born Monday at the San Diego Zoo. The exam included weighing the youngsters; checking their eyes, ears and overall physical health; and taking a sample of hair for use in determining the sex of each one. Like many other species of rodents, there are no visible signs to indicate the sex of these animals until they reach maturity, which is about 18 months to 2 years.
Segment of the Berlin Wall To Arrive at the U.S. Diplomacy Center

Washington, DC - With the support of the Atlantic Council and through an agreement with the Verbundnetz Gas Aktiengesellschaft, a German company, a remarkable segment of the Berlin Wall will be delivered to the State Department tomorrow, for installation in the U.S. Diplomacy Center. The installation will occur on the 54th anniversary of the closure of the border from East to West Berlin on August 13, 1961.

Washington, DC - The Federal Trade Commission, together with the Department of Justice’s Assistant Attorney General for Antitrust, released the agencies’ 37th Annual Hart-Scott-Rodino Report. The report presents fiscal year 2014 data on the agencies’ HSR Premerger Notification Program. The program allows the agencies to identify and challenge transactions that may substantially lessen competition in violation of federal antitrust laws. Also included in the report is a summary of the agencies’ merger enforcement activities for the year.
