Imperial, Arizona - Fall back, spring forward. We’ve all heard the saying, and it helps people remember which way to set their clocks for the start and end of Daylight Saving Time. Although it’d be nice to gain an hour of sleep twice a year, that’s not the case. Starting Sunday, March 13 at 2 a.m., we’ll all lose an hour. Altering your sleep schedule, or having poor sleep habits to begin with, can have a greater effect on your health than you may think.

Mayo Clinic infectious diseases specialist Dr. Pritish Tosh says it’s not too late for people who have not been vaccinated to get the influenza vaccine. "Although influenza right now is on the increase nationally, there certainly will be several more weeks of influenza activity likely within people’s location but also across the U.S. If you haven't gotten the vaccine, now would be a great time to do so, otherwise it may be too late."

Mayo Clinic Begins Development of Zika Virus Vaccine

Rochester, Minnesota - Mayo Clinic’s Vaccine Research Group will begin work on developing a vaccine to protect against the Zika virus, according to Mayo vaccinologist Gregory Poland, M.D. “My team is starting on this immediately,” says Dr. Poland. “We will be collaborating with the Butantan Institute in Brazil and its director Joge Kalil, M.D., Ph.D. They are the largest immunobiology lab in Latin America and produce 90 percent of the vaccines in Brazil.”
