Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments:
Gayle Miller, 43, of Sacramento, has been appointed senior policy advisor to the director at the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration. Miller has been deputy controller and director of policy in the Office of the State Controller since 2018. She served as a policy consultant in the Office of the California State Senate President pro Tempore from 2016 to 2018. Miller was a consultant in the California State Senate Office of Research from 2014 to 2016, staff director for the California State Senate Governance and Finance Committee from 2006 to 2014 and principal consultant for the California State Senate Revenue and Taxation Committee from 2001 to 2005. She was director of government affairs at Anthem Blue Cross from 2005 to 2006, legislative director in the Office of California State Assemblymember Alan Lowenthal from 1999 to 2001 and legislative aide and assembly fellow in the Office of California State Assemblymember Tom Torlakson from 1997 to 1999. Miller earned a Master of Business Administration degree in strategy and communications from the University of California, Berkeley and a Master of Business Administration degree in economics and finance from Columbia University. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $163,800. Miller is a Democrat.
Ned Coe, 61, of Alturas, has been appointed to represent the First District on the Modoc County Board of Supervisors. Coe has been a partner at Ned and Valerie Coe Cattle since 2013 and field representative at the California Farm Bureau Federation since 2001. He was a partner at Bill Coe and Sons from 1986 to 2012, feed mill manager at Alturas Ranches from 1996 to 2000 and ranch manager at Whipple Ranch from 1981 to 1986. Coe is a member of the California Cattlemen’s Association and the California Farm Bureau. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $14,905. Coe is a Republican.
Alexis Barries, 24, of Stockton, has been appointed to the Homeless Coordinating and Financing Council. Barries has been a community advocate and employment specialist at Aspiranet since 2014 and an advocate at the John Burton Advocates for Youth Foundation since 2014. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Barries is registered without party preference.
Joseph Bacchetti, 51, of Tracy, has been reappointed to the 2nd District Agricultural Association, San Joaquin County Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2014. Bacchetti has been an owner at the Bacchetti Hay Service since 1987. Bacchetti is president of Reclamation District 773 Fabian Tract, chairman of the San Joaquin Farm Bureau Federation Board of Directors, vice president of the Young Men’s Institute in Tracy, vice president of the Italian Catholic Federation in Tracy and a swine leader at Banta 4-H. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Bacchetti is a Republican.
Elizabeth Nicole Linnerman, 46, of Stockton, has been reappointed to the 2nd District Agricultural Association, San Joaquin County Fair Board of Directors, where she has served since 2014. Linnerman has been an insurance examiner at the California Employment Development Department, State Disability Insurance Office in Stockton since 2003. She was an executive administrative assistant at River View Financial Insurance from 2001 to 2003, a shipping supervisor at Weber Distribution in 1998 and receptionist at J and R Distribution in 1997. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Linnerman is a Democrat.
Jaime Hurtado, 53, of Moreno Valley, has been reappointed to the 46th District Agricultural Association, Southern California Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2014. Hurtado has been chief of staff for Riverside County Supervisor Marion Ashley since 2003. He is a member of the Inland Empire Hispanic Leadership Council. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Hurtado is registered without party preference.
Cindy Palumbo, 50, of Temecula, has been appointed to the 46th District Agricultural Association, Southern California Fair Board of Directors. Palumbo has been an owner at the Palumbo Family Winery since 2000. She is a member of Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital Foundation and the Oceanside Junior Lifeguard Program Board. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Palumbo is a Republican.
Gene Skala, 80, of Riverside, has been reappointed to the 46th District Agricultural Association, Southern California Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2010. Skala has been an insurance agent at State Farm Insurance since 1964. He is a member of the Riverside Rancheros and the DeAnza Trail Caballeros. Louis Tavaglione, 89, of Riverside, has been reappointed to the 46th District Agricultural Association, Southern California Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 1986. Tavaglione has been a partner at J and L Properties since 1960. He was executive vice president at Tavaglione Construction and Development Inc. from 1962 to 2012 and a real estate broker at Tava Realtors from 1950 to 1962.
