Calexico, California - Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia held a press conference today with local border officials regarding the introduction of the Border Air & Water Act (AWA) which would require the California Mexico Border Relations Council to better coordinate the funding and implementation of the New River Strategic Plan. The Act would also direct the CalEPA to improve air quality monitoring and better fund environmental improvement projects in the California-Mexico border region.

Escondido, California - Senior keeper Debbie Marlow carefully held a 2-week-old California condor egg up to a warm, bright light during a process known as candling this morning at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. This egg, laid on Feb. 13, is one of two California condor eggs laid this year, marking the start of the breeding season for the highly endangered species.
