Washington, DC - AstraZeneca LP has agreed to pay the United States and participating states a total of $46.5 million, plus interest, to resolve allegations that it knowingly underpaid rebates owed under the Medicaid Drug Rebate Program, the Justice Department announced today. Of that amount, AstraZeneca will pay roughly $26.7 million, plus interest, to the United States, and the remainder to states participating in the settlement.

San Salvador, El Salvador - A 21-year law enforcement veteran of the Salvadoran National Civil Police was arrested June 29 for his alleged involvement in attempting to smuggle two individuals to the United States. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents from the HSI Assistant Attaché Office in El Salvador assisted police officers from the Salvadoran National Civil Police in making the arrest.
