San Diego Chargers to honor Junior Seau's Hall of Fame induction

San Diego, California - The San Diego Chargers will honor and pay tribute to Chargers and San Diego icon and Pro Football Hall of Fame linebacker Junior Seau prior to the team’s regular-season home opener against the Detroit Lions on Sunday, Sept. 13. The tribute will take place prior to kickoff on the 50-yard line at Qualcomm Stadium and will feature a special video followed by an address from Seau’s daughter Sydney.

San Rafael, California - The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) recently confirmed another turkey vulture was poisoned by the euthanasia drug pentobarbital. It was found near Inverness, in Marin County, and taken to the wildlife hospital operated by the nonprofit WildCare in San Rafael.

Washington, DC - We are deeply concerned by reports that a Revolutionary Court in Iran has sentenced to death Mohammad Ali Taheri, the Iranian founder of a spiritual movement, on the charge of “corruption on earth.” We also are disturbed that a number of the movement’s followers reportedly have been sentenced to prison terms for similarly vague so-called crimes.

Escondido, California - Just before dawn on Thursday, a team of staff and volunteers from the San Diego Zoo Institute for Conservation Research was preparing to load and transport young frogs and tadpoles from the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Center for Conservation Research in Escondido, to release them into the wild at Fuller Mill Creek in the San Bernardino National Forest.
