Washington, DC - The California-based marketers of a software application for mobile devices and personal computers have agreed to stop making deceptive claims that their “Ultimeyes” app can improve users’ vision in order to settle FTC charges. Under the terms of a proposed settlement with the FTC, Carrot Neurotechnology, Inc. and its co-owners have also agreed to disgorge $150,000.

Washington, DC - The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today released two key final rules to prevent foodborne illness and better protect consumers from harmful outbreaks. The rules, part of the bipartisan FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) enacted in 2011, require human and animal food facilities to develop and implement written food safety plans identifying possible safety problems and to outline steps to prevent or significantly minimize the likelihood of these events.

Pasadena, California - Di Stefano Cheese Co., a Pomona, establishment, is recalling approximately 1,280 pounds of Parma Boneless Ham produced in Italy that were not presented at the U.S. point of entry for inspection, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced. Without the benefit of full inspection, a possibility of adverse health consequences exists.
