Former Army National Guard Member Arrested for Attempting to Provide Material Support to ISIL

Washington, DC - Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, a former member of the Army National Guard, was arrested on July 3 for attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). According to the complaint, Jalloh is alleged to have attempted to provide services by assisting in the procurement of weapons to be used in what he believed was going to be an attack on U.S. soil committed in the name of ISIL.

Washington, DC - Over the past seven years, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has instituted some of the most significant updates to our country's food safety system since the 1950s, leading to a 12 percent drop in foodborne illness associated with meat, poultry and processed egg products from 2009 to 2015. Point Reyes Station, California - Today, in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the National Park Service (NPS) is beginning the public planning process for the preparation of an Environmental Assessment (EA) for Phases I and Phase II of a Winter Habitat and Floodplain Enhancement Project on Lagunitas Creek. The project is proposed by the Marin Municipal Water District (MMWD or the district) on NPS lands as part of the district’s efforts to improve habitat for coho salmon and steelhead, both listed species under the Endangered Species Act.

San Diego, California - A recent study by BestColleges.com analyzing which colleges enroll and graduate women with majors in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) found that the University of California San Diego tops the list with one in three women graduating with a STEM degree. UC San Diego’s proportion of STEM graduates is three times the national average.
