Washington, DC - Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Rose Gottemoeller will visit Nairobi, Luanda and Pretoria December 6-11, 2015.

December 7-9, Under Secretary Gottemoeller will be in Nairobi, Kenya to discuss our cooperative security relationship, regional security matters, and peacekeeping efforts with counterparts at Ministries of Defense and Foreign Affairs, as well as Members of the Kenyan Parliament. On December 8, she will lead a discussion on regional security at the University of Nairobi. On December 9, she will participate in a roundtable discussion on military issues and regional security with think tank experts.

December 9-10, the Under Secretary will be in Luanda, Angola for meetings on regional security, security cooperation, weapons removal and abatement, and arms control matters with Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense. She will also meet with HALO Trust and the National Demining Authority to discuss humanitarian mine action and conventional weapons destruction.

On December 11, Under Secretary Gottemoeller will travel to Pretoria, South Africa for meetings on security cooperation, peacekeeping, and nonproliferation matters with her counterparts at the Department of International Relations and Cooperation. While in Pretoria, she will also meet with Young African Leaders Initiative alumnae to discuss leadership and lead a think tank roundtable on peacekeeping.
