Washington, DC - Acting Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs Judith Garber will travel June 7-11 to Lima, Peru.

While in Lima, Acting Assistant Secretary Garber will co-chair meetings of the U.S.-Peru Environmental Affairs Council and Environmental Cooperation Commission. She also will meet with Peru’s Minister of Environment and travel to the Amazon region of Ucayali to review progress on environmental cooperation and see firsthand how the region is tackling environmental challenges.

On World Oceans Day, June 8, Acting Assistant Secretary Garber will join members of the Peruvian conservation organization VIDA, local volunteers, and Embassy Lima officials for a clean-up of marine debris.
