Washington, DC - Secretary Pompeo met with Brazilian Foreign Minister Aloysio Nunes Ferreira. The Secretary remarked on the importance of our strong bilateral relationship and expressed appreciation for Brazil’s support in advancing mutual priorities in the region and globally.

The Secretary reaffirmed the importance of the recent launch of the U.S.-Brazil Permanent Forum on Security, our ongoing joint bilateral law enforcement initiative to address transnational crime. During the meeting, they discussed how best to address the deteriorating situation in Venezuela, especially the lack of credibility and legitimacy of the elections on May 20.
