Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointment:

Moses Zapien, 34, of Stockton, has been appointed to represent the third District on the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors. Zapien has served as deputy district attorney in the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office since 2015 and as a member of the Stockton City Council since 2013. He was counsel at the Law Office of Mark Choi from 2014 to 2015, owner at the Law Office of Moses Zapien in 2014 and an associate at the Law Office of James M. Morris from 2011 to 2013. Zapien was a victim claims specialist in the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office from 2008 to 2011, coordinator for legal services at El Concilio-Council for the Spanish Speaking in 2007 and office manager at Rosalio Zapien Dental Lab from 2004 to 2007. He earned a Juris Doctor degree from Humphreys College School of Law. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $96,387. Zapien is a Democrat.
