Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.

Russ Heimerich, 55, of Sacramento, has been appointed deputy secretary of communications at the California Business, Consumer Services and Housing Agency. Heimerich has been deputy director of communications at the California Department of Consumer Affairs since 2013, where he was chief of public affairs from 2005 to 2013 and an information officer from 1997 to 1999. Heimerich was an analyst at the California Performance Review Customer Service Team from 2004 to 2005, an information officer at the California Department of Corrections from 2000 to 2005 and government and community relations manager at Comcast from 1999 to 2000.  He was a broadcast writing instructor at California State University, Sacramento from 1996 to 1998 and Morning Edition host and producer at Capital Public Radio from 1986 to 1995. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $112,620. Heimerich is registered without party preference.

Marq Truscott, 53, of Davis, has been appointed to the California Landscape Architects Technical Committee. Truscott has been president at Quadriga Landscape Architecture and Planning Inc. since 2008, where he has been a founding principal owner since 1997. He was president of Collaborations from 1991 to 1997, an associate at the Austin Hansen Group from 1987 to 1991 and a landscape architectural designer at BSI Consulting from 1983 to 1987. Truscott is urban plan co-chair of the Urban Land Institute, Sacramento and a member of the City of Davis Planning Commission, Blue Line Arts Board of Directors, American Society of Landscape Architects Council of Fellows and Board of Trustees, Friends of Light Rail and Transit Board of Directors, University of California, Davis Landscape Architecture Program Advisory Board and the California Center for Urban Horticulture Advisory Committee. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Truscott is registered without party preference.

Jaymie Jo Noland, 59, of San Luis Obispo, has been appointed to the California Veterinary Medical Board. Noland has been head of the California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo Animal Science Department since 2013, where she has been an animal science professor since 1998. She has been an independent thoroughbred breeder consultant since 2008. Noland was an associate veterinarian at the Oak Park Veterinary Clinic from 1996 to 2000 and at the South County Veterinary Hospital from 1991 to 1996 and was co-owner and operator at Cal-Tex Feed Yard from 1977 to 1988. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Noland is a Republican.

Janis Berman, 69, of North Hollywood, has been appointed to the California Science Center Board of Directors. Berman has been an advisor to Congressman Howard Berman since 1985. She was California co-chair of the Democratic Leadership Council from 1993 to 1995 and director of government relations in the LA Mayor’s Office from 1993 to 1994. She was a member of the Los Angeles Coliseum Commission from 1983 to 1985, president of the California Science Center Board of Directors from 1980 to 1985 and executive officer for Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr.’s Consumer Advisory Council from 1977 to 1979. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Berman is a Democrat.
