Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.

Barbara Rooney, 45, of Elk Grove, has been appointed deputy director of legislation at the California High-Speed Rail Authority. Rooney has been deputy director of legislation at the California Department of Motor Vehicles since 2013, where she has served in several positions since 1994, including assistant director of legislation, branch chief of the departmental training branch, legislative analyst and training officer. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $117,816. Rooney is a Republican.

Joe Oliveira, 68, of Gustine, has been appointed to the California Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley, where he has served since 2010. Oliveira has served as a member of the Gustine City Council since 1999. He was an associate distribution engineer at the Pacific Gas and Electric Company from 1967 to 2002. Oliveira is a director at the Merced County Association of Governments and a member of the West Side Healthcare Task Force board and the Gustine Lions Club. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Oliveira is a Democrat.

James Tague, 51, of Bakersfield, has been reappointed to the California Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley, where he has served since 2012. Tague has been senior vice president of finance and planning at E&B Natural Resources Management Corporation since 2012, where he was vice president of finance and planning from 2008 to 2012. He was manager of corporate planning at Murphy Oil Corporation from 2001 to 2008 and a petroleum engineer and senior planning analyst at Chevron Corporation from 1997 to 2001. Tague served as a lieutenant and naval flight officer in the U.S. Navy from 1986 to 1995. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Tague is a Republican.

 Teri Short, 50, of Salinas, has been appointed to the 7th District Agricultural Association, Monterey County Fair Board of Directors. Short has been a marketing coordinator at H&R Block since 2012, where she was an office manager from 2010 to 2013, and has been owner at Teri Short Consulting since 2008. She served as a community educator at the Monterey County Health Department from 1997 to 2000. Short is president of the North Salinas High School Site Council and a member of the Monterey County Democratic Central Committee. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Short is a Democrat.

Cesar Chavez, 34, of Bakersfield, has been reappointed to the 15th District Agricultural Association, Kern County Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2003. Chavez has been general manager at the Farmworker Educational Radio Network since 2009. He was program director at the National Farm Workers Service Center Inc. from 1999 to 2009. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Chavez is a Democrat.

Jaqueline Hickman, 69, of Lone Pine, has been appointed to the 18th District Agricultural Association, Eastern Sierra Tri-County Fair Board of Directors. Hickman has been owner at Boulder Creek RV Resort since 1992 and at Hickman Construction since 1973. She was a sales manager at Pacific Bell from 1970 to 1973. Hickman is a member of the Health Communities of Southern Inyo County, Lone Pine Film History Museum, Eastern Sierra Interpretive Association, Lone Pine High School Future Farmers of America Advisory Board, Ridgecrest Chamber of Commerce and the Lone Pine Chamber of Commerce. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Hickman is a Republican.
