Sacramento, California - The California Department of Food and Agriculture, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Yolo County Agricultural Commissioner’s Office, and the Sacramento County Agricultural Commissioner’s Office have eradicated an oriental fruit fly (OFF) infestation centered in the southern part of the City of Sacramento near the Lemon Hill community, ending a 123-square-mile quarantine that began August 28, 2018. A total of 15 male flies and one female fly were detected.

Sacramento, California - In response to the increasing number of horse racing deaths in California, Governor Gavin Newsom announced today his support for SB 469 by Senator Bill Dodd (D-Napa) which authorizes the California Horse Racing Board (CHRB) to suspend horse racing licenses to protect the health and safety of horses and riders. The announcement comes after the 26th horse death at Santa Anita Park.
