Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.

Los Angeles, California - California Attorney General Kamala D. Harris today announced that California and 47 other states and the District of Columbia have reached a $71 million settlement with pharmaceutical company Amgen Inc. to resolve allegations that Amgen unlawfully promoted biologic medications Aranesp and Enbrel. California will receive $4.6 million from the settlement.

Los Angeles, California - The owner and operator of three medical clinics located in Los Angeles pleaded guilty today to submitting more than $4.5 million in fraudulent claims to Medicare.

Sacramento, California - Governor Brown signed the Workforce Investment for the Re-Entry Population (AB 1093) bill today, which was authored by local Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia (D-Coachella).  The legislation modifies the criteria for the Supervised Population Workforce Training Grant Program and allows grant applicants to address the education and training needs of people who have some postsecondary education or individuals who require basic education.

Davis, California - The drought is tightening its grip on California agriculture, squeezing about 30 percent more workers and cropland out of production than in 2014, according to the latest drought impact report by the UC Davis Center for Watershed Sciences.
