USDA to Release Complete Set of Tables for Agricultural Projections to 2028

Washington, DC - On Thursday, February 14, 2019 at 12 p.m. EST, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will release the complete set of tables prepared for the upcoming USDA Agricultural Projections to 2028 report. The new tables will include projections for farm income, U.S. fruits, nuts, and vegetables supply and use, and global commodity trade. Tables containing long-term supply, use, and price projections to 2028 for major U.S. crops and livestock products as well as supporting U.S. and international macroeconomic assumptions were released on November 2, 2018. Short-term projections from the October 11, 2018 World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report are used as a starting point.
FDA takes action against 17 companies for illegally selling products claiming to treat Alzheimer’s disease

Washington, DC - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today posted 12 warning letters and 5 online advisory letters issued to foreign and domestic companies that are illegally selling more than 58 products, many that are sold as dietary supplements, which are unapproved new drugs and/or misbranded drugs that claim to prevent, treat or cure Alzheimer’s disease and a number of other serious diseases and health conditions. These products, which are often sold on websites and social media platforms, have not been reviewed by the FDA and are not proven safe and effective to treat the diseases and health conditions they claim to treat.

Carlsbad, California - The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Yamhill County (Oregon) Sheriff’s Office, and the Carlsbad (California) Police Department are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying potential victims of a suspected serial sexual predator who took nude photos of models and is alleged to have sexually assaulted many of these models, including individuals younger than 18 years of age. Robert Arnold Koester—also known as Bert Kay, Rhake Winter, and Qitooly—age 52, has potentially been engaging in these criminal acts starting in 1994 and continuing through his initial arrest in Carlsbad, California, on November 13, 2018.
