Sacramento, California - Halloween was an ideal occasion for the California Department of Food and Agriculture to celebrate Merry Wells’ 37 years of public service. Family, friends and coworkers in costume laughed along with her as she recounted her years “growing up with CDFA.” Secretary Karen Ross presented a proclamation thanking her for her work as well as her friendship.

Brown Jr. today announced that he will travel to Europe in November to deliver keynote remarks at a climate summit organized by the Pontifical Academy of Sciences at the Vatican; discuss clean energy collaboration with European Union leaders in Brussels, Belgium; address the State Parliament of the government of Baden-Württemberg – co-founder of the Under2 Coalition - in Stuttgart, Germany; convene top climate scientists from around the world in Oslo, Norway and serve as Special Advisor for States and Regions at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP23) in Bonn, Germany. These events will take place from November 4-14, 2017.

Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today issued a proclamation declaring October 28, 2017 as a "Day of Remembrance of the Northern California Fires" in the State of California.
"On this Day of Remembrance, I have ordered that flags be flown at half-staff over the State Capitol," said Governor Brown. "As we mourn for those we have lost, let us dedicate ourselves first to the aid of the survivors and then to the causes of safety and preparedness in our increasingly fire-prone state."
