Washington, DC - In preparation for next month’s Diplomatic Conference for the Convention on Nuclear Safety, President Obama has accorded Dr. C. S. Eliot Kang the personal rank of ambassador. The appointment became effective January 26, 2015. In this capacity, Ambassador Kang will lead the U.S. delegation to the Diplomatic Conference from February 9-13, 2015, at the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, Austria.

Ambassador Kang will continue to serve as Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation.
