Calexico, California - U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Centro Station arrested a previously deported gang member west of the Calexico on Wednesday.

At approximately 8:45 p.m., Border Patrol agents arrested a man after he illegally entered into the United States about five miles west of the Calexico port of entry.

The man was transported to the El Centro Border Patrol station for processing.  There, agents then discovered he was a member of the South Side 13 and the Sureño criminal street gangs.  Agents also observed that the man had six gang related tattoos.

The man, a 22-year-old Mexican national, was placed in Border Patrol custody to be further processed for his illegal entry into the United States.

From October 1, 2014 through August 31, 2015, El Centro Sector had 14,511 apprehensions.
