Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments:

Jennifer Carlquist, 43, of Salinas, has been appointed to the California Physician Assistant Board. Carlquist has been an emergency room physician assistant at the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula since 2013 and a physician assistant at Central Coast Cardiology since 2012. She was an emergency room physician assistant at the Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital from 2009 to 2015. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Carlquist is a Republican.

Darren Van Steenwyk, 37, of Lodi, has been appointed to the California Structural Pest Control Board. Van Steenwyk has been technical director at Clark Pest Control since 2006. He held several positions at Univar USA from 2002 to 2006, including manager and sales representative. Van Steenwyk is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council, Northern California Chapter, Entomological Society of America, National Pest Management Association, Pest Control Operators of California and the California Association of Pest Control Advisers. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Van Steenwyk is a Republican.
