Twentynine Palms, California - A couple from Inglewood, CA and their friends visiting from Denmark pushed the annual visitation number over the two million mark on Monday the 28th of December at Joshua Tree National Park. This year the park sets a new record with the number of visitors in 2015, which is up from 1.6M in 2014.

Superintendent David Smith said, "We are no longer a fall through spring park. The park is attracting new visitors from around the world and many of them come in the summer which has traditionally been the slow season for Joshua Tree. That's no longer the case."

This year the National Park Service celebrates its 100th anniversary since the agency was established in 1916 to provide management and protection for the country's natural and cultural treasures. Parks nationwide expect an upsurge in visitation in 2016 during the NPS Centennial. The National Park Service invites you to "Find Your Park" in 2016.
