Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments:

Eric Gurna, 43, of Los Angeles, has been appointed to the Advisory Committee on Before and After School Programs. Gurna has been president and chief executive officer at LA’s BEST After School Enrichment Program since 2015, where he was director of staff development from 1998 to 2000. He was president and chief executive officer at Development Without Limits from 2000 to 2015 and a lecturer at City University of New York in 2005. Gurna earned a Master of Science degree in urban policy analysis and management from the New School for Social Research. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Gurna is registered without party preference.

Luis Santana, 59, of Fresno, has been appointed to the Advisory Committee on Before and After School Programs. Santana has been executive director at Reading and Beyond since 1999. He was a consultant at Kingsburg Community Assistance Program in 1998, director for recruitment and outreach at Centro Hispano de Estudios Teologicos from 1997 to 1998 and a short-term missionary for Covenant World Missions from 1995 to 1997. Santana earned a Master of Arts degree in social work from California State University, Sacramento. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Santana is registered without party preference.
