Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the appointment of Anita L. Santos to a judgeship in the Contra Costa County Superior Court.

Santos, 49, of Fairfield, has served as a commissioner at the Contra Costa County Superior Court since 2012. She was owner and sole practitioner at the Law Office of Anita Santos from 2008 to 2012 and served as a deputy district attorney at the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office from 1997 to 2008. Santos earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley. She fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Barbara A. Zuniga. Santos is a Democrat.

The compensation for this position is $184,610.
