Twentynine Palms, California - Joshua Tree National Park Rescuers located a 21 year old male from Great Britain who had been hiking in the Rattlesnake Canyon area of the park and became separated from the others in his party. Acting on a 911 call Saturday at approximately 6:50 pm, search teams from Joshua Tree National Park Search and Rescue (JOSAR), Desert Search and Rescue (DSAR), San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department and Fire Department, responded to a report of a lost hiker.

The subject was located Sunday morning around 8:30 am by search members who were able to fix a position with the hiker using voice contact and direct a San Bernardino Sheriff's Department helicopter to the site where the man was evacuated. Morongo Basin Ambulance transported the subject to Hi-Desert Medical Center where he was treated for minor injuries and observation.

Visitors to the park are reminded to always stay with your group when possible and carry more water than you think you will need. Dress appropriately for the environment and use sunscreen.
