Sacramento, California - Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson today traveled to California where he toured U.S. Coast Guard operations, met with California Governor Jerry Brown, and participated in engagements with local law enforcement.

Secretary Johnson, along with U.S. Coast Guard Pacific Area Commander Vice Admiral Charles Ray, toured U.S. Coast Guard Base Alameda and met with crewmembers of the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter STRATTON to discuss regional operations and collaboration with international partners in the Eastern Pacific. Secretary Johnson also went underway with crewmembers from U.S. Coast Guard Station San Francisco to observe U.S. Coast Guard maritime operations.

In Oakland, Calif., Secretary Johnson participated in a roundtable discussion with regional law enforcement from counties surrounding the Bay Area. Secretary Johnson discussed the Department’s continued commitment to working with local, state, and federal partners.     

Secretary Johnson later traveled to Sacramento, where he met with Governor Brown to discuss a range of homeland-security related priorities.

While in Sacramento, Secretary Johnson also met with California Highway Patrol (CHP) Commissioner Joseph Farrow and CHP officers to thank them for their service and to visit the Emergency Notification & Tactical Alert Center.

Tomorrow, Secretary Johnson, along with other DHS leadership, will deliver remarks on the Department’s cybersecurity efforts at the RSA Conference 2015.
