Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the appointment of Hugo J. Loza to a judgeship in the Tulare County Superior Court.

Hugo J. Loza, 63, of Visalia, has served as a commissioner at the Tulare County Superior Court since 1995. He served as a deputy public defender at the Tulare County Public Defender’s Office from 1980 to 1995, where he was supervising attorney from 1990 to 1995. Loza earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Berkeley. He fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Joseph A. Kalashian. Loza is a Democrat.

The compensation for this position is $184, 610.
